Acer announces the Aspire Vero National Geographic Edition laptop for a brighter future

Acer today announced the launch of the new Acer Aspire Vero National Geographic Edition laptop, a special edition of the Acer Aspire Vero, incorporating design elements reminiscent of planet Earth and supporting the National Geographic Society with every purchase.

Acer’s new laptop (Model AV15-51R) is a manifestation of the company’s commitment to a more sustainable future, and each purchase supports the global National Geographic Society nonprofit in its work to protect the world through exploration, research and education.

The sustainable-minded laptop features 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic throughout its chassis, 50% PCR in its keys and was designed to be easily upgraded / repaired.

The Aspire Vero product line is part of Acer’s “Earthion” mission, a platform created to help address environmental challenges and push the industry in a greener direction.

“Acer has taken steps in recent years to reduce its ecological footprint. The Vero product line, born out of our Earthion platform, represents the latest of these efforts, ”said James Lin, general manager of notebooks and computer products at Acer. “We are delighted with the reception the Aspire Vero has received from users and the media, and we hope our efforts will encourage partners and industry colleagues to take similar action in their own right. “

The new Aspire Vero National Geographic edition builds on the design of the original Aspire Vero; this look is defined by the blend of 30% PCR plastics used in its chassis, carefully selected for its balance of durability, rigidity and aesthetics. The yellow pigment dots contrast with this textured gray surface to add character to the laptop without the need for painting. The new edition adds to that diagonal lines that run through about half of the top cover, being a small excerpt from a topographic map dividing the laptop’s surface into land and sea. This also hints at the impact. of global warming on sea level rise. Opening the laptop reveals the iconic National Geographic yellow border and the message “For Planet Earth” is printed in yellow on the space bar.

The packaging has also been designed to be a multipurpose box that can be fully reused once the laptop is set up. Innovative packaging protects the device without the need for anything other than 85% recycled paper, plus a 100% Industrial Recycled Plastic (PIR) laptop sleeve and additional sheet of 100% plastic PIR which is located between the screen and the keys of the laptop.

The laptop’s use of 30% PCR plastic through the chassis and display bezel and 50% in its keys reduces the carbon footprint of the production computer. Additionally, Acer has looked at the other end of the laptop’s life and made sure it is easily upgradeable. The bottom cover is secured with nothing more complex than eleven standard Phillips screws, and the internal components are neatly organized so users can easily replace RAM and SSD.

The Acer Aspire National Geographic Edition laptop is powered by an 11th generation Intel Core processor with Intel Iris Xe graphics, Windows 11 out of the box, Wi-Fi 6, USB-C and two USB 3.2 Type-A ports . One of them can be used to charge mobile devices even when the computer is turned off.

Acer Earthion is a platform for combining the strengths of the company, its supply chain partners, customers and employees to help address environmental challenges with innovative solutions. Key focus areas include Acer’s RE100 commitment to achieve 100% renewable energy use by 2035, the pursuit of greener product design and efforts to reduce the footprint carbon in its supply chain.
