bhu: IP trends discussed in a webinar at Bhu College | Varanasi News


Varanasi: A nationwide webinar on “Current Perspectives on Intellectual Property Rights” was organized on Tuesday by the Department of Zoology, Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, of the Hindu University of Varanasi (MVV-BHU).
The webinar was addressed by eminent speakers including Dr. Gouri Gargate from IIT-Kharagpur and Prof. BK Singh from Department of Physics, Institute of Science and Task Force Chair, IPR Cell, BHU.
Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Gargate spoke about the importance and different types of intellectual property (IP) in academia. She also discussed copyrights, the knowledge economy, patent and project planning, and dealing with intellectual property activities, including the stages of patent filing.
Professor Singh delivered a lecture on “Accelerating the Pace of IPRs at BHU”. He discussed the main challenges, impacts and opportunities of intellectual property for BHU. He highlighted the quality publications, filed patents and extramural funds generated for BHU compared to other universities and institutes in India.
He also mentioned the processes and financial support provided by the Institution of Eminence, BHU for filing patents. He encouraged BHU faculty members to improve the number and quality of publications as well as patents to improve BHU’s global ranking.
The webinar was attended by MMV Head Professor, Professor Inu Mehta, Professor Sunita Singh, Dr. Subhasini, Professor Karuna Singh, Professor Poonam Singh, Professor Rashmi Singh, Dr. Gautam Geeta J, Dr. Usha Kumari, Dr. Anima. Tripathi and Dr. Ganesh Kumar Maurya.
