Eversource Energy: Webinar to Provide Customers with Tools to Help Pay Their Bills



BOSTON, Massachusetts (September 23, 2021) – As part of its ongoing efforts to help customers struggling to pay their utility bills during the pandemic, Eversource is hosting a free webinar at 12 p.m. on September 28 to highlight payment assistance options. The webinar will also focus on how customers can protect themselves against disconnection from service after the moratorium on these activities expired last month. Customers must register in advance to attend the free session at noon next Tuesday and can do so by visiting Eversource.com/billhelp.
“With many financial challenges due to the pandemic, it is critical that customers know that they may be eligible for programs to reduce overdue balances or benefit from service disconnection protection – even those who do not. ‘have never needed help before, “said Eversource Vice President of Customer Operations Jess Cain.” Whether it’s a flexible payment plan, a discount rate or some other program , we’re here to help our customers find the payment assistance option that would be most useful in their specific situation. ”

Eversource representatives will present the following solutions to help pay the bills during the webinar. Any customer enrolled in a support program or payment plan that is up to date with their payment terms cannot see their service disconnected.
Fuel assistance

  • Customers with household income equal to or less than 60% of the state’s median income may be eligible for assistance with paying their bill through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

Discount rate

  • Customers can benefit from a discount on their monthly energy bill

New start

  • Income-eligible electricity customers can reduce or eliminate their outstanding balance in as little as 12 months when they make monthly payments on time and Eversource will make up the difference.

Extended payment plans

  • Extended payment plans are available for any customer, residential and commercial, requesting financial assistance, without demonstrating financial need

  • Plans can go up to 12 months

Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP)

  • The ERAP is available to tenants in Massachusetts who are struggling to pay their rent, electric or gas utilities due to the COVID-19 pandemic

  • In addition to rent assistance, it can also cover up to $ 2,500 in overdue utility bills that are due after the start of the pandemic. Renters can ask for help with utilities even if they don’t need help paying the rent

  • Customers can learn more or apply online through their local Regional Administration Agency (RAA) at Mass.gov/CovidHousingHelp or call 2-1-1 for more information.

Energetic efficiency

  • With Massachusetts residential customers using an average of 40% more energy during the hot summer months, Eversource encourages them to take advantage of the company’s energy efficiency solutions that can help customers keep their homes cool. while managing energy consumption.

  • Customers can sign up for an Eversource Home Energy Assessment – when a certified technician checks a customer’s home to identify areas where it can be tightened to save money and energy. The technician makes on-site improvements such as sealing drafty doors and windows, closing off air spaces around pipes, and upgrading to LED lighting. * This service is available free of charge to customers eligible for income
