Inspiring Women: Speakers Announced for Free Webinar on Maximizing the Benefits of Mentoring

The business benefits of mentorship, as well as the benefits for the mentor and mentee, will be explored in a free webinar at 11am on March 29 that will be co-hosted by NCE and its sister title Building News.

The event is the first of the Inspiring Women in Construction and Engineering program, which has been supported by Curtins, and the series will focus on mentorship and industry support before culminating with an awards ceremony later this year.

Join NCE Claire Smith, Managing Editor, to explore how mentorship can support women’s careers in construction and engineering are Built by Us Founder Danna Walker, Steer Support and Mentoring Director Josie Rothera and Associate Director of Incendium Consulting Ewelina Kruk.

Smith will explore the business case for mentorship with guests before discussing what good mentorship looks like and how companies, mentors and mentees can get the most out of a mentorship program.

Registration for the event is free and those watching live will be able to ask Walker, Rothera and Kruk their own questions at the end during a Q&A session which will be moderated by Building News editor Lem Bingley. Fill out the form below to reserve your place.

The webinar will be followed by a series of events, including a collaborative awards program for which applications will open in April to identify models of technical excellence, outreach, leadership and project contributions. Additionally, diversity champions, men and women, and organizations are going above and beyond to improve their corporate culture and foster greater inclusion. We welcome applications from all individuals and organizations in the UK construction and engineering industry, and the shortlist will have the opportunity to take part in a half-day workshop and be presented to our mentors who will continue to coach the winners.

Even if you are not successfully shortlisted, our final conference of the year will be open to everyone before crowning the winners at the awards night. You can also provide feedback and help inform content discussed at events by participating in our Women in Construction and Engineering survey.
