KnowBe4 creates an investment branch KnowBe4 Ventures

Security awareness specialist KnowBe4 formed KnowBe4 Ventures to co-invest in security startups to strengthen and support cybersecurity initiatives.

KnowBe4 has partnered with cybersecurity venture capital funds Elephant and Ten Eleven Ventures to strengthen cybersecurity measures.

According to Verizon 2022 Data Breach Investigation Report (DBIR), 82% of breaches involved a human element, yet less than 3% of cybersecurity budgets are spent on this area.

KnowBe4 Ventures sees this gap as an opportunity to invest in companies that strengthen and support the human layer of cybersecurity.

“Cyberattacks continue to plague organizations across all industries,” said KnowBe4 CEO Stu Sjouwerman. “The majority of these attacks are human-targeted, so it’s important to support founders who are rising to the challenge of improving security culture and accelerating the importance of securing the human layer.”

KnowBe4 Ventures will focus on seed investments. It will invest in the following companies which:

  • Address the human layer of cybersecurity or have an integration case with KnowBe4 products
  • Actively raise and have an identified lead investor
  • Having a product in the market and attracting the initial customer
  • Have a compelling financial strategy, unit economy and long-term growth potential.

KnowBe4 Ventures portfolio includes Adlumin, Lumu Technologies and EasyDMARC.
