MIL Recognized by DoD for Outstanding Support to National Guard and Reserve Employees

BOWIE, MD., March 30, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — The MIL Company (MIL) is pleased to announce that it is the recipient of the 2022 Freedom Award from the Maryland Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) in the Large Business category. The prestigious award presented by the ESGR, a group of employees of the Office of the Deputy Secretary of Defense, is the highest honor given by the Department of Defense (DoD) to employers who provide the most outstanding support to members of National Guard and Reserve.

The ESGR administers this awards program on behalf of the Secretary of Defense, and since its inception in 1996, 295 employers have earned this prestigious honor. EMI project manager Michel Lopez Rodriguez nominated the organization for the 2022 award. Rodriguez, who currently serves as a command sergeant major in the U.S. Army Reserve, has been with MIL for eight years and believes the organization is incredibly supportive and flexible in when it comes to work-life balance.

“MIL goes above and beyond to support my commitment as a military member so I can focus on my mission while deployed,” Rodriguez said. “I appreciate the generous time off they provide and the way they rally around my family when my unit is mobilized – a MIL VP has even offered to mow my lawn while I’m away! I’m happy May my appointment help show how much MIL truly values its people.”

The Freedom Award is given by the DoD on behalf of the men and women of the National Guard and Reserve. This recognition is granted in limited numbers by state ESGR committees to employers at the local level who display patriotic support and cooperation toward their employees.

“The MIL Corporation certainly deserves the Freedom Award on behalf of Maryland Employer Support (Large Business 500+ Employees Category),” said Dr. Stephen Maguire, State President of the ESGR. “It is undoubtedly encouraging to see how MIL is supporting its reservists, especially in these difficult times.”

“We are so proud and honored to not only have been nominated, but also to have received the ESGR Freedom Award,” said Executive Vice President of MIL, TomClark. “MIL takes very seriously our responsibility to support those who defend our great country as employees and combatants.”

MIL is currently in the running as a finalist for the National ESGR Freedom Award to be presented by the Secretary of Defense later this year.
