New Financial Aid Webinar Series Launching in February – Brainerd Dispatch


ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Office of Higher Education, Minnesota Department of Education, The College Place Minnesota and Minnesota Goes to College are launching a series of financial aid webinars for students and families as they prepare for the college entrance process. All sessions will have simultaneous interpretation in Spanish, Somali and Hmong. Participants who attend four of the five sessions will be eligible to win a $500 scholarship, the press release states.

The series, which runs from 7 p.m. from February 8 to March 1, will focus on a variety of topics, including general financial aid information, details about applying for free federal student aid, the Minnesota Dream Act for undocumented students and other ways to pay. for college.

The sessions are:

  • February 8, Financial Aid Overview,
  • February 15, Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, FAFSA,
  • February 17 Complete the Minnesota Dream Act,
  • February 22, Understanding Your Offer Letter,
  • March 1, search for scholarships.

“The cost of attending higher education is a significant barrier for many Minnesotans, making awareness of available financial aid a critical part of our outreach,” said Minnesota Commissioner of Education Dennis Olson. higher education, in the press release. “Regardless of family income, many grants are available to help make college more affordable, and completing the FAFSA is an important first step to accessing these funds and being able to pursue post-secondary education.”
