The Department for International Trade at the British High Commission in New Delhi, in conjunction with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), is hosting a ‘UK-India Chemicals Webinar’ on Tuesday on the topic of United Kingdom as a partner of choice for the Indian chemical industry. December 14, 2021 from 2.30 p.m. – 3.30 p.m. STI
India and the United Kingdom have shared historic ties for several centuries. The two countries have had a strategic partnership since 2004 and maintain a multi-faceted relationship covering trade and economy, as well as close cooperation on multilateral issues.
The UK is one of the world’s leading chemicals producing countries, with over 3,000 companies manufacturing or distributing chemicals. Chemicals are one of the UK’s biggest export sectors, with over 60% of UK chemicals companies exporting what they make to the world.
India, on the other hand, ranks sixth for imports and ninth for exports of chemicals and chemicals in the world (excluding pharmaceuticals).
The webinar will provide an overview of the chemicals sector in the UK, focusing on the strengths of the sector, the movement towards sustainable and green chemicals, the opportunities for collaboration between UK and Indian companies, as well as the R&D of world-class and on-offer support, with Innovate UK Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) and the larger ecosystem.
